It was a very climatic sequence leading up to it, and it smooths out a little too well. Everything just kinda stops when they begin to rest, and while the rest was needed, the idea that no one mentions anything about the events or tries to work through their next steps during that, is a massive tonal shift. It would also be good to try and keep the perspectives of normal people in mind during some of these scenes. Since every gift is essentially unique, it's likely even a seasoned merc wouldn't know what the expect and could still have their blood run cold at the sight or sensation of something unsettling or threatening like Mio's gift.
I also feel like Mio folded instantly during her negotiations. Even if she was not willing to follow through, she would have tried to at least haggle. Or to make better on her claim, break a finger or two, she already broke the one dude's arm, using her shadow help her break legs would have been no idle threat. Overall, it's another step in the right direction.
