in TW2 generally enemies remain as hard as they are introduced, so while the combat can be hard and unforgiving at times, there's also a real sense of progression as Geralt is turning into more efficient murder machine
the gear and level based stuff in TW3 really made individual abilities and pings on the skill tree or stuff like potion choices feel much less impactful than just gearing up to the mean
