>>52244251The fact that, outside of the big 2 corpos, the most popular on looked up to Vtuber agency in the west is Vshojo even when Pink Cat, Silver and Vei where there, and that the most popular indies (i.e. Shylily, Nimue) are basically the anime PNG equivalent of a titty twitch streamer should tell you enough about the state of EN vtubing as a fundamentally "western localization" of the original experience from eleven country. By that I'm not saying the EN experience shouldn't exist, just that it's a deviation brought by cultural differences by East and West and for that reason it can only exist in the state it is now. You can like it, you can dislike it.
The cultural differences exist as much in the audience as they exist in the talent themselves (i.e. "western attitude") so the content can't be anything different unless powers from above, or unique sensibilities from creators, bring about chances that go against the dominant culture. Going counter-culture is costly, but it's the only way to create something new in a sea of unremarkables. I will let you figure out where Kawaii fits in this picture.
