Unions ran ad campaigns against Bernie in Nevada telling them that he'd get rid of their private healthcare and they still voted for him anyway there.
Half the DNC doesn't want universal healthcare not because they're opposed but because they're scared they'll lose "moderates" for activating for it. The whole GOP opposes it because of the memes. And the people who care about healthcare are outnumbered by those who don't care enough about it to vote politicians out and by those who care about it in the opposite way.
