>>45216729Oh, actual art definitely takes more skill, dedication and time. But that's kind of the problem. A lot of fanartists out there operate inside of their little comfort zone of boring poses, static backgrounds and deviating very little from the source material because they don't want to put in more effort than they need to to produce an image.
But with AI, it takes barely any time or effort at all to do something out of the box. Take this image (not mine, to be clear). You could make something pretty similar to this by typing in "metal gear solid, soldiers, white bodysuit, concrete, night, nanashi mumei" and installing a little addon to get the visual style. But it's cool! Before this, I never saw Nanashi Mumei in a sneaking suit from Metal Gear Solid. That's a fresh idea I haven't gotten to see before now.
But why would an artist spend hours of their life learning a new artstyle, learning to draw soldiers, body armor and all that just for this one niche image? The answer is that in many cases they wouldn't. They'll stick Mumei in her regular outfit, staring directly at the viewer, make her boobs a bit bigger, put her in front of a white background and call it done, because that will get them more likes and follows than doing something unique. And then they'll sell you the same picture with her tits out on patreon.
The reason why I like AI art as a consumer is because even if the anatomy sucks and the images don't make sense if you look too close, because of the low opportunity cost people can be a lot more creative with a lot less effort.
