Finally took some time to compare the lyrics of the official Empress release to the Calliope Ver.
The Japanese lyrics are mostly unchanged between the two except for the chorus and intro which exchanges the lines about being "ugly but captivated by a vibrant flower" and another about how ugly the subject is again with ones later in the song about "Being cast into a mold" and "Hiding faults with decoration" respectively. The Japanese in the first and last choruses are repeated in the Calliope ver. unlike the official one which has slightly different lines in the ending of the first chorus; so it could be that that this was how the lyrics were originally and it was changed later on before the official release. Although, it may be a stylistic choice from Mori since the final chorus and switched lines fit more with her lyrics
The English lyrics are, obviously, all Mori additions but still reflect the theme of overcoming inadequacy with the extra bite that her writing brings. Where the official version seems to be more about how everyone deals with these issues and to not judge based on appearances, her version seems to be more active in tackling those issues and overcoming the self deprecating voice in her head that has been fed by bad experiences over the years, which is why I said that repeating the, "even if its a lie, your spine is getting straighter" line in the chorus might have been on purpose.
Overall, both versions are good, though if you're not a fan of vocaloid then you probably won't like the official ver. Mori's will probably be the one I think back to more since its the first I listened to plus it feels more personal and those lines at the end before the outro always get me.
