Usually when I watch any movie, I watch it for what it is first and then if I see it a second time, I look for little details like composition, how the scene is shot to convey a special message (like how in Midsommar when Dani was reflected in mirrors a lot to show how disconnected she is from everyone else), and for little bits of foreshadowing, etc. I'm actually scared of horror movies too but found a fascination with them because of how much thought and experimentation is put into it compared to most other movies. I don't mind holding hands! I hate jumpscares too...
