It has nothing to do with western men not liking idolizing men. It can have to do that a niche group in the west that are weebs see vtubing or a certain Japanese thing in one way and the audience as a majority see vtubing as a female thing in their tunnel vision view. Makes me think of the same thing with JRPG players hating series like SaGa while the series is being carried by Japan. They hate it because it doesn't play typically like how they view RPGs coming out of Japan should play.
