It is understandable that he does not know their inventories but forgetting what their spells do (they dont even have many) or what their backstories is pretty bad for DM.
Worst thing you can do as a DM is just throw a tough fight at completely new players above their CR.
Its his own MAIN campaign, I wish he paid more attention. Like seriously, I was completely in disbelief during this episode, Arcadum behaved like third-class dm.
