Even the vast, vast majority of fans are completely ignorant of this despite the fact that they should know better.
Consider this: On twitch viewbotting is so rampant that basically the entire community talks about it and even twitch staff acknowledges it (though they don't want to prevent it for their industry plants). And yet even here sponsors will still pay by viewership/ad impression even though everyone bots their own streams to get paid more by the sponors. No sponsor thinks "fuck this guy's numbers aren't real I'm not paying him for a bunch of clankers", even if they did know it's happening they just conclude that it's free advertisement for their game since the stream gets pushed to the frontpage anyway.
Basically there is simply no situation that would incentivize ANYONE to kill bots or "expose" them in some way. In the vast majority of cases it's even a win-win for every party involved.
