Yeah cool VODs are more accessible on Youtueb, big deal.
But since many newfags discovered vtubing and streaming in general with Hololive, it got deep in their brain that Youtube = good, Twitch = "twitch whores" "twitch culture" "raids bad" etc.

A lot of indies end up making the jump at some point seeing how isolated they get on youtube and with 0 discoverability.

unless you win the lottery no stream will "randomly popup" in your proposed videos on youtube, it's all already popular corpos if it ever happens
On the contrary Youtube has no actual game categories, no proper others streams suggestions (completely drown out in the giant amount of regular videos), you can't filter to see vtubers. Meanwhile Twitch has a vtuber tag (with language filter etc.), has a very accurate stream rec function which cross references viewers of different streamers and can really boost small streamers, and have game categories.
Not to mention gamechanging tools like raids.

From the top of my head, MinyaSeptember is a bilinguial whose more than half viewers are JP, around 250~300 viewers. You have some JP artists too like iFelty who is also a vtuber mama.

A lot of the new groups are putting other content out that isn't well suited for twitch.
E.g. PRISM puts out lots of covers and shorts and clips. None of which suit the twitch platform. Twitch is great for streaming but not for literally anything else which is what a lot of the other companies are banking on. Especially if like prism they're making their own clips.

You could use both, but like tsunderia does it splits their viewer base so you have to constantly go back and forth between both sites and it's bad for viewer retention.

Also YouTube has other benefits over twitch like easily adding interconnectivity for groups and being able to link to each other easier. Twitch is better for indies because none of that matters, but for groups where networking within the group is important, YouTube allowing that easier helps.

I mostly agree with the rest, even if companies having a scripted content focus is pretty rare currently.
However the interconnectivity has always been here on Twitch, with Twitch Teams which are basically groups, and Squad streams (pic rel) for collabs where viewers can just chose how view each POV on one page. Also possibility to automatically host each other and such.

Because on twitch you obviously only get access to, well, people who already use twitch. Everyone uses youtube for many things, but many normalfags don't use twitch, seldom open it, or have even heard of the site. It's a far smaller userbase.
People who open twitch generally already have a specific game or another streamer to watch in mind which is not (initially) you, and it's harder to pull these people away from their intended stream until it ends, even if they are following you already, rather than a youtube viewer who might be watching an non-competing category like DIY videos or music. Even if Twitch emails viewers not currently on the site when you go live, many people won't see it until after the fact because they don't have anything setup to notify them on PC.
Obviously discoverability is way better on twitch for small streamers, but many may grossly overestimate their ability to get viewers on Youtube at the start.
