Both completely untrue. Nobody from the outside can control what happens on a livestream and things that should have not been said or shown slip out all the time. The content has nothing to do with "these kinds of relationships" unless you think having a girl read your comment in the chat is somehow intimate. Many (including Marine) will outright tell you that they don't entertain your marriage proposals or anything else.

You're right it's not because of the gaming skills, but the gaming skills aren't all there is to their work, not even remotely. When was the last time your favorite big twitch streamer released an original song produced by Yunomi with a high quality fully animated MV to go with it? I personally feel a lot more inclined to monetarily support someone in their creative career with constant reminders of how this money is being invested into it than to just give money to people playing games so they can play more games.
You know, the idol part of being an idol company. Doing their best to improve in whatever field they're trying to create in with the support of their fans. The drama that comes from that, celebrating every success and milestone. That's the appeal.

thanks for the advice but it's easier said than done. meeting new people has always been hard and now in the pandemic especially. i mean thats how most people get into vtubers. there is nothing else to do. in my case however , i was minding my business watching vtubers when out of the blue some intrusive thoughts about marine started invading my head, eventually leaving me infatuated with her. those thoughts were idealizations about her too and now its so bad i cant watch her without feeling some cognitive dissonance when she does or says something thats not in line with that ideal. i start questioning her actions and words, developing some schizo rrats, when all I really want is just to enjoy her the way i did in the past without having those expectations and disappointments, anger and sadness. also the fact that she's clearly burned out from streaming and vtubing doesnt help at all.

It's not that much in terms of stream numbers, but official promotions. When you look at brand collabs and general sponsored content, you'll almost always see either Fubuki or Marine, or both. Others also participate, but these two are mainstays.
Pekora has the numbers, but not as much the social skills to do that kind of stuff. Fubuki goes on live TV and does a great job of representing the brand, Pekora chokes trying to say a i u e o in front of a bunch of people.
Marine has both the numbers and the skills, it's no wonder Cover wants to push her as hard as possible.

Depends on how much you invest into it, but I'd say in a few months you're already following gaming streams without much difficulty, the context on screen helps a lot. It's not like you'll be able to translate everything she's saying, but you'll get what she's talking about, and you'll feel yourself improving as time goes on.
The most important part is getting the basics out of the way, so that even trying to watch streams will already be a learning experience. But there's no way around the basics, you have to do boring reps to leave the "I recognize some of the words" anime watcher level.

Yeah, if you're ESL you're very familiar with the process, it's not so different. Properly expressing your thoughts and holding conversations in that language will take quite a while, but following what other people are saying, playing games and stuff like that will come much more quickly. You just don't get the buff of being able to read the words even if you don't understand them, you have to learn from scratch. But it's not as hard as it seems before you start. It is hard, don't get me wrong, but the feeling of staring at a bunch of moonrunes when looking at japanese text goes away very quickly.

I don't mind it, as long as she can actually do what she said, and stop before she breaks her voice to take a 2~3 day break. That's not an issue at all. She should be having a couple of days off every week anyway, getting rid of the "all or nothing" mentality will do her good.
Again, as long as she can actually stick to it. But she's just as likely to go beyond that point, and think a couple of days will be enough, when in reality she would need a month. I hope not. This could only lead to permanent damage.

I definitely see where you're coming from, but I see it kind of differently. It's not like the studio work is for private purposes, she's stunting the growth of her own brand to work on content to be enjoyed by the people who are already her fans. Of course, this is highly subjective and depends on the kind of content you enjoy the most, but personally Fan Fun Island is something I'm looking forward to a lot more than any stream. If she refused to be a part of it to work on her channel instead, it would be a shame, from my perspective, but would perhaps make sense for her in terms of growing her channel and getting more in return in the future.
Not quite the same thing, but it's sort of comparable to how Suisei and Watame declined being a part of Bloom to work on their own solo music instead. And in their case it definitely paid off, both of them have great sololives full of originals to show for it, while nobody who was part of Bloom was able to do the same, even though Bloom was a blast. Marine chose Bloom back then, and is choosing its equivalent again now. Do I think Suisei made a mistake working on Still Still Stellar instead of being a part of Bloom? Hell no, her album is fantastic, so I'm not denying you may be right in what the best choice would be, but I get both choices, and neither is made without thinking of how it'll benefit their fans.

This is highly subjective, if you're ok with performing at small-medium arenas yea they are successful.
Question is, how long those arenas stay full without streaming?

Don't get me wrong, majority of Holos have clean voice and some are exceptional singers.
But are they exceptional enough to compete against mainstream music talents? In my opinion, not necessarily.
Not to mention, Sony is about to launch their own VSinger lineup of 50 talents.
Holos get dwarfed in a snap by their marketing on vsinger market-space

What is that one considers "successful" anyway?
Yesterday I saw Ai Uehara tweet a Miko cosplay. She's an extremely known person around the world, and yet her social media following is fairly average when you compare to Hololive talents.

Let's turn to Senchou's VA jobs; Long time ago I watched twitch stream of some VA(called "...duck" or something) and he did voice lines for Ford Truck ads in states. He was making less money than Senchou...

So question is, How much peak there is left to climb? The jobs wont stop, Hololive is well-established brand in Japan and USA already. All she can do is wait for the important jobs, but at given rate her voice might be in pieces when the dream job lands on the doorstep and walks away

It really was a lot of fun. Kind of hard to discuss it when there's so much shit going on, though. Oshi stream always open + looking at other streams every now and then to see what they're up to. I imagine most people went to the global to talk about it if they weren't already too busy with the streams themselves.

I only watch one perspective its more fun that way, watching other perspectives tends to ruin the surprise. For example I also didn't know that Lamy and Miko were the imposters, so it was also a surprise for me.

I'm kind of glad the people behind these decisions are a bit retarded. They'll see 20k people watching the promotion live and think it was a great success, but I'm just enduring through something painfully boring for my oshi, there's no way I'll look any deeper into it.
Square-Enix does promotions a lot better, they just get the holos they pick to play a demo and show a highlight reel in their channels. They understand that while the holo will bring a lot of eyes to the product, the product itself still has to look appealing. Or feature Holos in it, I guess, I will buy games just because of that, no problem.
Or you can choose Nene, since she will always go the extra mile and continue to promote that product on twitter long after the promotion is done, she is always really thankful for these opportunities.
