Since art always is self-expression to some degree, the feelings that come with being fake will also haunt you. At some point, I think more seasoned artists come to terms with it and learn to move on.
When it comes dev/devops it feels more utilitarian and goal-oriented. You're trying to do something or fix something, so why write your own janky code (unless out of pride) when someone else has already solved it and iterated upon it? It would be like fixing a bike and insisting on making your own wrench first.
