Gamers just didn't want the hobby's communities to become consumed by hookup culture or jockeying for female affection, which usually happens in identity based communities that allow women but which aren't also tightly restricted in terms of how people can socialize.
People might laugh at the op pic for being stereotypically girly gap moe, but nobody would ever actually give a real fuck about what colors someone chooses for their PC and gaming accessories. Something as pointless as upholding traditional western masculine norms was never the source of misogyny in gaming communities. It was always just not wanting to be reminded of high school while engaging in digital escapism, as the guys who played video games back in the day instead of doing sports tended to NOT be the ones women fawned over.
tldr My only complaint is that I find the leyboard's color scheme to be rather garish, but that's just relative to my own personal taste in color schemes.
