you're immediately cutting off a huge chunk of the general population as an audience by having a vtuber model vs traditional face cam streamers which have been the established norm since 2009.

I'd argue it's a case by case basis
For me it boosted my popularity a lot, I have grown more as a VTuber streamer in 4 months than I have in 4 years of streaming prior, simply because having an avatar means you have branding pretty much set in stone. It still is a fad for a lot of streamers 'n viewers alike but I want to believe that you can still make it work if your content is tailored for it

I'm doin good. My favorite chuuba already does what I like which is zatsudans (and reading that turns into zatsudans when she's done). She's an autistic alien and her stories about dealing with that and her everyday life are framed by her kayfabe in a way I find endearing.

Her opinions are understandable, and i don't know of any other places, but she was probably alluding to us buying ads, and the only situtations i know of are s**zawa ads from months ago on /jp/ and Nina adanons for karaoke. That being said, last time Nina adanon bought ads for her karaoke, she doubled her viewers for that stream, how much of that was influenced by people who saw ads, and how much was just people who discovered her by other means is something i just don't know. I also don't think chat went retarded for that stream.

It's known that there are many popular streamers who play games and aren't any good at them. Then again, there are many popular "idol" streamers who can't even sing. I'd say it's less a matter of one being more important than the other, and more that a streamer should have at least one thing that they're really good at to make a good impression with, and then use their charming personality to retain the new viewers.

I think I mentioned the existence of vtubers to my folks in passing, but didn't go into any detail because I'm pretty sure they'd be confused and worried for me if they knew what they're really about. I only have one IRL friend and he's already into them.

Also I think some girls use too much the Marshmallows I can only ask the same person so many different questions. After a bit it becomes a timeloop. Debuts are almost always a shitshow, and the same goes for redebuts. That doesn't mean they aren't necessary, though. It's basically just a way to announce "I'm confident in my ability to stream now, please watch me if you like my voice/design/demeanor." Therefore a redebut is saying "I've changed up my act! Maybe you'll like this better/even more!" The rule should be: start test streaming, debut when you get confident that you can stick to a schedule without too many technical or other difficulties, keep streaming, then "redebut" if you are going to rebrand, change platforms, or change your schtick in some way. If you are "redebuting" before you are already much more successful than when you started, you've probably already lost.

Subathons or whatever equivalent you wish for with goals your community really wants are normally a way to get but you need to hype them so people are interested and you can tap into new viewers, normally do this after being in contact with a few circles, add collabs with said circles to increase viewership potential.
I guess one of the easiest way to get donations is by setting goals that you might need help with. But it really depends on the type of viewers you're getting.

It's ok. In the end it is true that the people most worried about opsec are the kind of people that don't need it. I realized there isn't anything particularly interesting in my life worth finding about, that's why I decided to go on with the questionnaire even if I would consider it a bad practice for a chuuba. I just try not to say anything I am not willing to stand for in real life were it to come down to that. A clean conscience is the best opsec there is.

Also, I don't think fighting games make for good stream content unless it's a tournament, a top 100 player or in depth tutorials. Who is watching FGC casuals every day? I don't see the appeal in that.

i think it's unfair to compare big influential names from the FGC to chuubas trying to stream it but there are several channels that are very popular with casual content (especially smash if you count that)
the thing about figthing games in particular is that you need to understand a bit of the game to truly enjoy watching it
