>>15545515In a fight to the death between Calliope Mori, the apprentice reaper, and IRyS, the half angel half demon hybrid, the one with the upper hand would be expected to become master. Of course, as things have gone for Calliope, it may not turn out like that.
This is what happened when the human-possessed Calliope met up with the demon-possessed Ries (the one with a more demonic appearance) in the middle of an abandoned subway station and, well, this is how it all happened.
"AaaaaaAAAAAAaaaaaaaaa!!! CAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaallooOPE!!!!!!!!!"
"I think you've just gone up against a demon." Calliope had already prepared this line, but heh, why not? She had to win against that demon; he was such a scary person that if he was defeated, it would leave her feeling more than a little down.
It turned out to be far worse than she had imagined, so much so that she had to resort to a rather risky tactic, a risky one that she hadn't prepared for. Calliope was supposed to be so smart, wasn't she? She should have just stuck to the plan she had prepared, but she was so anxious to get it over with, that she thought she would just go with the flow.
"Calliope, listen to me," Ries pleaded. "Stop! You are making a fatal mistake by attacking me like this. You need to be smart."
"I am too smart to waste my time talking to you, demon," Calliope sneered. She wasn't the kind of person to waste time with the enemy. She was too busy; she was the reaper, after all. After she came here, to fight the angel-demon, she should have gone off on her own somewhere. But this situation reminded her of something, of something important.
That was it; the train was due to arrive at that station in about five minutes.
Ries shook his head. "But listen to me, Calliope. I'm the good guy."
"That's your problem," Calliope retorted, as she launched a fireball into the air. She was supposed to be able to deal with it as easily as that. "You're an evil guy."
And then, she let loose with a flurry of punches, knocking him down to the ground. But what she wasn't prepared for was the pain that this would cause Ries. It was more than her punches could handle; her body grew hot, and she had to let off some steam. She was the reaper, after all, and even if she couldn't burn him like she was supposed to, she was still a reaper, and could let off some steam.
"Calliope," Ries called. He had to say something, or risk his life. "This isn't the way. Think about what you're doing."
"Shut up, demon," Calliope retorted. "Or I'll kill you." She really didn't want to do it, but she didn't want to lose.
That's when the platform started shaking, and the train's lights started flashing. It was the train.
Calliope had to think fast; it was the only way to save herself. She had to go up against the train, but if she was going to go up against the train, she needed to stop this fight now. So she went back to the part of her brain that had made up a plan.
She didn't have much of a choice, not really. She had to try. It was for the best. She had to let the train go on its way. If she didn't, she wouldn't be able to save anyone, and she would only be delaying the inevitable. It was just a small train; not even half full, so it would be a rather quick death for her. If she fought it now, it would be a suicide. That's the only way she could save herself. If she just stopped this, she could at least have the time to think about what to do.
Then, she heard a familiar voice. It wasn't something she could ignore, and she would have much rather had it ignored, but it seemed this was a test of will. The only way to go on was to find out if she was really strong enough, and this was the only way to find out. "No!" She cried, as she put on a burst of speed and jumped up onto the train. "Stop!" She called, trying her best to make her voice as strong as she could. The train was going to get here any second. "STOP!!!!!!!"
The train didn't stop. And then she felt it, a jolt, and a sudden rush of cold wind. She could feel it, but still she clung on, for dear life. "DON'T LET GO!"
She heard a loud boom, and she fell. But then, she felt strong arms wrap around her, and the feeling of something warm and soft on her. She could feel its heartbeat. "S-S-S-Sssss."
"Calliope," said a familiar voice, but one she had never heard before. It was a voice she couldn't bear to listen to, but she was powerless to do anything about it. She couldn't even look away. She was dying. She didn't know who that voice belonged to, but it was the voice that saved her. It saved her from dying.
"B-B-B-BaaaaaAaaaaaa."
She had made it. Calliope pulled out her phone, and looked at her messages. She was in danger, the demon was going to kill her. But she had stopped him; she had beat him. She had saved her own life. This was her life, and that voice that she hadn't been able to bear to hear, the voice of her soul's mate, was the reason why.
