>>16579633>First mover advantageHololive had created a very large demand for english speaking vtubers that Cover had a feeling was there, but even they weren't sure what the real size of the market would be. This, combined with the clipping environment heavily favoring Hololive in EN speaking regions led to an incumbent advantage without even having had released an EN branch yet (in hindsight of course it's easy to see this)

They went and managed cobble together a group of misfits that, through a bit of luck and hardwork, managed to take what was only meant to be 'just a side branch' and turn it into 'The most well-known Hololive Generation worldwide' (This can be contested, I'm just going off of sub numbers here for the claim though). Between Mori's music, Gura's Karaoke and general skill at setting up moments alongside the rest of Myth, they stormed the EN market and took no prisoners.
>Market conditionsLockdowns and restricitons lead many people to be homebound. Even when lockdowns were finished, many were recommended to stay home and social distance to minimize the spread. This meant that suddenly, there were a LOT more people at home and willing to give stream-watching a shot, and oh boy did Hololive and HoloEN benefit greatly from it.
>The Taiwan YabMake no mistake, the lines were clearly drawn by Hololive when they chose to cut off the CN branch. EN > CN. Even if she ultimately chose to leave, choosing to keep Coco at the time when many companies were bowing to China was enough.
>Rooting for #1While NA may like cheering for the underdog, there's just as many that are a-okay with hopping on the bandwagon and going along with what's popular. I don't think this is necessarily just an NA thing, but it is what it is.
Thus, in NA, NijiEN has to struggle against the multiple layers of advantages that HoloEN has managed to build up. It's not impossible for them to find success in NA, but good lord is it going to take a lot of luck and probably multiple cripping yabs from HoloEN.
