I have thought about whether or not I'm angry at Rushia or not and whether or not I'm justified to feel that way. It hasn't been easy to try and sort out my feelings.
Now I assume that the likely truth is that they are not a couple, but Rushia tried to start dating him, hence the contacting of Kore and her trying to find out more about his past while saying and so on. This is the only part of this story that I would actually consider faulting her for.
On one hand, I absolutely fell for her and always thought she was really devoted to the kind of girl she wanted to be for us. She's probably more Rushia than rm at this point. She's also really lonely. Yes, she has her fandead, but I'm talking abouy the physical kind of loneliness. She doesn't have a lot of friends either, he's probably one of very few that aren't just Hololive colleagues.
Despite all the money she makes by going all in on gachikoi, she's still a woman nearing the mid 30s soon. A lonely woman who has always had an intense need for affection, emotional support and who has clearly never wanted to die alone.
On top of that it might also be easy to mistake his friendly ways as him reciprocating any feelings or him also being interested in dating.
Do I feel cheated by her developing feelings for Mafu? Yeah, kinda. She was never lying about how much she wanted to be with us and how much she desired us to love her. And so we did, a lot of us anyway. It was and is very much a parasocial connection going both ways.
But I also understand that she's only human and far from perfect - she tried hard for us to be that robot but she couldn't, she cracked a bit and ended up having a crush on someone in her otherwise lonely life who seemed like the one chance to maybe still have a family at some point in the future.
It's to be expected, her mental fortitude was never good, she was always an insatiable black hole for affection and love and her own age probably got to her too.
In the end I feel like if she were to actually tell her members and fans sorry and that she had a weak moment but she wants to look forward now and spend more time with us, that would be a good way to handle it. I could certainly continue to support and cheer her on.
