It seemed to primarily be instigated by Kiara too, so I imagine she just got sick of seeing the same comments repeatedly that weren't about her content but instead about the pairing.

Kiara moved away, they couldn't physically meet so they naturally drifted apart because their proximity is what brought them close in the first place.
Its kinda like that friend you haven't called in a while for no particular reason but now it would be awkward to do so because it would draw attention to the fact you drifted apart. And Kiara is a insecure menhara which made it extra tough.
Once they stopped being close as friends, the Takamori ship started becoming a burden because they had leaned too hard into it from the start. So they stopped.
There is nothing malicious or yab involved.

Apparently this is actually it. Mori admitted that she's been a really shitty friend, and that she should've been there more for Kiara. She was scared that she might've ruined their friendship, but chat convinced her to stop being a fucking idiot, and just talk to her about it. I do hope they figure it out, because it's obvious that, while she's fucking awful at showing her real emotions, Mori does actually care about Kiara.
