Every satisfaction that you derive out of someone else misery will only bring you more misery in the end.
You still have time to mend your ways. If you pursue the schizo path, later on, guilt will consume you. It is better to be miserable with a clear conscience since then at least you will be able to tell yourself you don't deserve it.
