VTubing (and any job) is all about setting the right expectations for your audience/clients.
If a VTuber tells them that they will never have a relationship while in this job, they will get an audience that likes that content.
If a VTuber doesn't say anything about relationships, but has very intimate ASMRs and other streams that are GFE, they will get an audience.
If you tell your audience that you will be hanging out with a friend (female) offstream, you will get viewers that expect what is peddled.
If you tell your audience straight up that you won't pander to gachikoi, you will filter any potential gachikoi.
Every single one of these cases (and more) are all about setting proper expectations and fulfilling them. There are VTubers for unicorns, non unicorns, casual fans, hardcore fans, music fans, ASMR (non GFE) fans and ASMR (GFE) fans, full-on GFE fans, "friend" vibe likers, "daughter" vibe likers and everything else under the fucking sun.
There is no "greater idol community". There are idols that cater to all of the above and more. There are married idols and idols with kids still performing on stage, or on whichever work they choose to do.
As with all audiences, Unicorns have their place. It's just that they have consistently been betrayed and burned so many times, that it tends to develop schizo tendencies. But there are VTubers and Idols that pander to them and them alone.
They simply have to find them.
