Carrying both a polearm and a sidearm was pretty standard for armed fighters from the Middle Ages. Polearms were usually just carried in your arms, so the the sidearm being there didn't matter that much, and if you had to fight in tight quarters where you couldn't maneuver the polearm, or your polearm got stuck after cleaving into something (more common than is recognized in popular culture), you could discard your polearm and immediately follow up by drawing your sidearm.
Ah, the tier stuff. We're having a lot of fun with those. We actually already have three tiers of wine, depending on how close to Mont Mori it is growing, and in which climate. Our Navy also has three tiers, being split into a merchant navy, a police-like militia, and a professional militarized navy. And I do intend on making other priestesses with different equipment.
They are trained in the use of their weapons to defend Mt. Mori from schizo invaders to the highest standard, and I imagine for this purpose they may also wear some armor, trying to come up with a design for a helmet that integrates the kitsune mask.
