>Hop in, dude.
Mori pulled up in her fancy sports car that she could afford thanks to the label deal she signed. It seemed like things were looking up for her, she could reach greater heights, and you couldn't be a prouder boyfriend. Still, she seemed off, like something was bugging her.
"Hey honey. Where are we going?"
>Somewhere special, you'll see.
You couldn't help but think that sounded eerie.
Still, it was a special day - she has finished recording her next album, and wanted to celebrate. You felt honored that it was you who she wanted to commemorate this occassion with, so it wasn't your place to be picky.
But Mori seemed pretty unenthused.
"Is something bothering you? You look down."
>Well it's just...
She paused for a moment, as if to gather her thoughts. Or maybe it was something she didn't want to share. You reach out to hold her hand, but in the same moment she moved it to the stick, to change gears, with a timing that didn't seem coincidental.
"Hey, it's better to let it out now than to have it ruin our day."
In response, she looked at you somberly. You have never seen her like that, it was a heart wrenching sight.
"Mori..."
She let out a deep sight, she was ready to talk.
>Do you remember my ex-boyfriend?
You feared that could be it. "This again? I told you I'm over it..."
>I really loved him... I moved mountains for him, and he just used me...
You feel anxiety overwhelm you, but you respond. "And I told you, I will never do that, and I'll always want to be by your side. And you can take as much time to heal as you need."
She gave up on stopping the tears anymore, and she bawled:
>I know, but it's so difficult to trust again... I keep feeling that you will play me too, but I feel so guilty about it because you keep giving me the best...
You didn't know what to say. You felt like you've been through this same song and dance together many times, but you're always at your toes, trying to find the best words to placate her fears. A minute passed in silence, but it felt like an hour. Then she spoke up:
>So I did some thinking, and I figured out how to make sure you'll never leave me.
A feeling of dread washes over you. "W-What do you mean by that?"
Suddenly you realize that car was going pretty damn fast all this time.
>If we can freeze this moment, somehow... we can be together, forever. Happy for eternity. And I can be fearless, and you can be with me.
Her voice wasn't cracking anymore, instead it sounded creepily happy, like that of a cult member. And you saw your worst fears realized when you saw her approach the pier.
"Mori, please, this isn't funny..."
You try to open the passenger side door, but it won't budge. You slam and beat on the glass, but your arms feel weak and your breathing is all over the place.
"Mori, honey please! It doesn't have to be like this! We can live happily, like normal..." you plead, but she grabs your arm and looks you in the eyes.
>I love you.
"Mori! CALLI! PLEASE-"
