>>25775890You should want to avoid putting your name out there because you then develop online societies with power structure circlejerks and nitpickers who will dig through your post history to try to discredit something you're saying right now. And of course, chief of all, people who will possibly-forever not like you just because you said something once in the past that annoyed them and they will never actually treat you as a peer in a conversation. You can have a unique name here taking on a tripcode, it's just almost nobody does anymore - because tripfags are usually cancer and because their post histories can be searched they just become lightning rods eventually.
Before social media fucking poisoned everything, it was perfectly fucking normal and literally encouraged to stay anon as possible on the internet, that it was fucking stupid to just post IRL shit about yourself openly etc. Now we have countless boatloads of identity theft year after year, lots of it "social engineering" aka they looked at shit you posted and found or guessed the answers to some of your password reset questions for something because you put the answer on the public internet. Mass populations CAN be all wrong about something and social media is one of those great societal mistakes. Facebook was originally literally an exclusive sekrit club network for Harvard students - it makes sense in that kind of local context. It doesn't just scale up to the entire world successfully.
