>>32426975>>32425959there's alot to analyze about Homura and her intentions here: first thing to look at is the two major questions she asks Madoka in the movie: "would you leave everyone behind to save them?" to which Madoka answers "fuck naw" and "Do you place personal desire above law & order?" to which Madoka replies "no dog" In both scenarios Madoka is herself but is also memory wiped, so she's essentially asking pre-anime Madoka these questions.
That being said, did the first question even impact Homura's decision? After watching a few times I think you can entertain the argument that Homura planned to de-throne Madoka from the start, from the last episode of the anime. Remeber that at the point Homura asked Madoka the first question she wasn't even 100% sure that she herself was the witch, and only confirmed so after the conversation. Then when Kyubey revealed that Homura telling them about the existance of witches Homura clenched her fist in anger, at ehrself, for doing something so dumb. But she only regained her memories of all the timelines in which she failed to save Madoka AFTER that moment, right before she shot the big arrow with Madoka to finally break out of the soul gem. The reason this is important is because once Homura became the devil, she said that all the time she spent fighting for Madoka has become precious memories to her, so even pain is part of her love. But the Homura that spoke to Madoka in the flower field didnt have these feelings.
It's possible that Homura told kyubey about the existence of witches on purpose in order to have them attempt to bring Madoka down from heaven. When she finally grabs her, she says
