1. It isn't that Koreans don't sweat as much.
2. It has to do with the content of the sweat, determined by genetics.
3. These genes are not limited to Koreans. They are common among peoples across Northeast China, Korea and far-east Russia. A select few Europeans (1-2%) also lack the genes that cause armpit smell.
Armpit smells come from a particular bacteria (that is everywhere in our environment and is mostly no big deal) feeding on a specific chemical that is present in armpit perspiration. The output of these bacteria feeding on this chemical is the smell we know and hate.
Most people have the gene that causes this chemical to appear in perspiration, a minority do not. The gene in question is ABCC11. It also has an impact on earwax production, which is some people in East Asia (including Southeast Russia) have "dry" earwax, in addition to having no armpit smell.
