>>3333501>>3333609>>3333702I've thought Mori (and Reapers in general) are not omnipotent or all-knowing, they have no reason to be. They simply see when a life is destined to end and bring the soul to where it needs to go. They don't need to see the future or other timelines.
Mori would know something is off because a date does not match up. Either it's past due or it's so far into the future it cannot be happening. Mori is not confrontational, I could see her trying to sit down and reason with Amelia that "Look, it's not because you're a bad person or something. You're not going to Hell and the people you care about will keep your memory alive." that's when Watson drops the "You don't understand. There will be no one else if you don't let me stop this!"
After some convincing and showing proof, Mori is worried enough to go to Death and go "Uh Sensei, we might have a problem." she then gets permission to let one life continue because it may mean saving everyone. What's the point of a Reaper, a being that maintains balance of life and death, if some other entity smashes that scale?
