Essentially its important because the spirit of the Earth was really freaked out about humanity possibly destroying the planet, so it made a deal with the Crimson Moon to fuck over humanity.
This essenitally resulted in the Moon sending over its avatar, who was the first vampire, and caused a lot of fucking trouble for all of humanity. It kinda chilled out after being defeated but it still exists on Earth in some capacity.
