2.) Characterized by high acceleration and top speed
3.) House comparatively large big block engines
4.) Prioritize straight-line speed and aesthetic design over comfort, fuel economy, handling, or safety - go fast, be loud, look cool
Muscle cars were 'working class' performance cars for their day, usually just performance versions of even cheaper working-class cars. They were designed to be used, abused, and thrown away. The gen 1 Viper is arguably the last true muscle car.
