>>35613026Nice post. Funnily enough I just watched her 1st birthday stream just now because it popped up in my recommended videos and it’s really quite amazing how different she is as a performer now. The growth is really astounding.
I will say it kind of bugs me people thought she was going to quit at the start and all those narratives about her constantly quitting. She pretty much used variations of the name ぽこ(Poko) and what people say were new accounts was just her changing the name and groups she had on NND. She retired the name when she joined Nijisan. The stuff about bullying at Nijisan was true but it wasn’t other streamers doing it, it was coming from certain people in management and it wasn’t just Luna who was at the receiving end of it. She was better off leaving. She then renamed Poko to Kanon and went indie until she joined Hololive. She quit one company and antis have used it ever since to paint her as unreliable. It’s really quite pathetic.
I remember those early days where she was really struggling to find her audience and sometimes there was less than a thousand people watching at prime time hours while her 3 gen mates were pulling in 3 to 8k.
She would be incredibly depressed on her roommate streams at that time and the truth is she never thought about quitting she actually thought her contract would not get renewed because she was under performing so much compared to her Gen mates. All credit to her that she persevered and did dance lessons, physical training and singing lessons and did some truly insane streaming hours to build a dedicated core audience.
Luna and by extension her roommate to me will always be a perfect example of a little battler who people wrote off and time and again she has proven those people wrong.
