It's like people actually tried to make videogames from 1985-2005, then when the bigwigs took over most forms of innovation completely halted and they've just been finding us ways to jew us out of more money while feeding us recycled crap.
You end up with games that release on 15 different platforms with 7 special editions, but it's all smoke and mirrors built on some shit from 2007 no one has been given any budget to improve since.
