Rust is why Mori and Gura never talk anymore. Mori has only mentioned something Gura related like 2 times in 2 months and Gura said something about deadbeats last week. That was the first Mori related thing she said since the Rust fiasco. It also put a wedge between Gura and Ame but to a lesser extent.

Only relevant rule was the one about not raiding offline players, which is a pretty understandable rule needed to fix a blatant design flaw.
In S3 they introduced limitations to base building to try and prevent the Peko vs All from the S2 finale, but at that point the game was basically dead due to lack of interest and a bad map.
Gura's just using the rules as a scapegoat for the fact that she just doesn't feel like playing the game anymore for whatever reason.

People all joke about the moment Ame cursed at Gura.
But it's partially true.
One of the reasons behind Gura's success is her focus on emotional intelligence and relationships. She doesn't play games to win. She often says to the viewers, non-jokingly, that "you're here to have fun." She plays games to foster relationships with people, whether it be viewers or her co-workers.
Once Gura sees that Rust takes too much effort and yet does not help foster relationships as much she would like it to, it becomes boring and de-prioritized for her.

this doesn’t get traction here on vt, but it’s commonly believed off of here that the chumbuddies were responsible for the drama, that they were trolling mori and ame’s chats like some hivemind intel operation.

what’s worse, i got the impression that this nonsense is also believed at least by Mori if not both of them, and that they made an effort to force Gura to punish or otherwise admonish her fans, which she refused to do. now they claim that Gura is uncooperative and unwilling to compromise with her coworkers, just because she would not sell out the chumbuds.

She already said the reason. Too many rules and that's probably the reason why not many are coming back to it either. Just like most things Cover does, they micromanage it until it dies. Season 2 was the last good season. They have a habit of overthinking things or if one problem arises, they overreact and cut themselves at the knees to spite themselves. Instead of learning from their mistakes, they seem to make it worst. I think the copyright apocalypse is still a trauma they have over their heads for why they act so dumb so frequently while other small indie companies can do things with seemly no hassle like cover an English song, play music in GTA and play Resident Evil Village with a dub.

Gura Rust S2 streams were an absolute return to form for her from a year with diminished streaming hours. she was way into the game, and happiest we saw her all year, especially when she got to play with her JP senpais, without someone babysitting the interactions, something Gura has wanted since joining hololive.
if people don’t realize there is absolute drama in EN behind the scenes, her abandoning Rust makes it a self evident truth.

not saying they didn’t start enforcing the rules harder, or make them more strict, and it was definitely Mori and Ame drama that led to it.
just remember that Gura 3D live was also affected by that drama. remember how she said it was supposed to be much longer? it definitely got fucked up because of background drama.
also that rust drama was just a spark in a room filled with gasoline. there was def other drama going on in myth, possibly homobeggar collab related, also might be gura still being upset about calli’s house party during her visit. unless gura put a paper bag on her head no way she didn’t get doxxed just going into the house.

Rust is geared towards raiding ultimately, it is far more lucrative (and fun) to raid other bases for weapons and materials than grind it out tediously yourself. If you can’t blow up someone base to rob it then they all have to suffer the grind, freaks like Choco love it but it’s not for everyone. They’ll always keep coming back to Minecraft because it lets them interact with each in a Hololive theme park they built themselves.

Hololive already struggle for perms and that's why they all attach themselves to the 'buff game of the month' as soon as possible. Making so many rules that the game becomes unplayable and everyone has to flounder until something else comes up is just retarded.

The only people who are still playing RUST despite it all are now being told by management that their private server is going to be shut down imminently to cut costs. Meanwhile, the big server they were banned from entering, that has streamers, Niji, VSPO, small startups, 774 etc is still going and will outlive them.
