I'm a teammate and I know that Ame's roomate is not that great, but it's not her roomate I care about. I like her fictional character, which she portrays. I don't care about the real girl, and I don't donate or subscribe. But the fictional character of Ame is really cute, and I enjoy it when she does GFE stuff.
You have to just play along, like a game. It's the closest we get to dating an anime girl, so keep it at that. Of course the 3D girls behind the avatars are thots. All women are thots. Vtubers, and the characters they play, are just nice little distractions. They're escapism from the real dating market out there. And they're completely free.
