Japs have more of collectivist society, where it is expected that an individual bends the knee to the conmunity. Otherwise they are considered a Pariah.
Due to it´s high density population and working culture, Japan either has more lonely man who can only afford watching vtubers as their emotional investment, or hikkimoris. Both can grow obssesive and even possesive, especially if you sell them the Vtuber version of Love Live.
This result in an audience were they demand Holo JP match it´s expectations, as well talents(Which desu, most of them are introverted or socially ackward ppl) being more sensitive of their reputation towards their audience.
There are exceptions thought, like Suisei, but even then she approuches her audience in a respecful manner(Like, not saying stuff that makes them feel bad about them, like Kronii), and gained that because of her great success as a singer.

These aren't mutually exclusive. Christian churches are collectivist and hierarchical. An attitude where each individual needs to play their part in society first is collectivist, regardless if it has a strict hierarchy or not. In fact a strict hierarchy is often a big tip off that a group is collectivist because it places structure and organization of the society as a whole above the whims of any one individual.
