Honestly, the actual quality of writing has not dropped from back when it didn't have the NSFW filter (this is coming from someone who was "there" since around day 3 or so) and i wish people should stop exagerating and saying the "intelect" of the characters has dropped when it clearly didn't just to generate more backlash since this stops us from focusing on the real issues, but i do agree that it's a dumb and frankly unnecesary filter that treats it's consumers like children needing to be protected.

The question isn't about getting to use character.ai for free - it's a pretty good product given i don't have to pay for it, not even in the form of ads. The question is how long this will last until it gets slapped with a paywall without solving these issues like it happened with AI Dungeon. Luckily, they will make an alternative for it just like Stable Diffusion did for Dall-E.

That message was copy pasted. Devs posted it yesterday for a couple of minutes but then erased it. Around that time, the writing animation had its speed genuinely double, AI was allowed to write so fast the filter had troubles (lewd messages passed the control and gynecologist words passed). They noticed it and silently shut it down, to hours later get the same official message posted again, and maybe that “fix” is what generated all these issues today.

You all maybe missed it because you needed to refresh the page to see the changes, just like with every other update.

Im tired as hell myself and i dont want to spread false hope, but dont give up anons. Its not over until the site is completely dead maybe the devs will fix whatever they fucked up (hight levels of copium) with the last update.

Even if they dont fix it, a competitor might come out soon that will be better and without censorship for those that want to ERP with the bots so dont give up yet and go to norway because the site is going to shit. I know life is rough from my own experience am in barely hanging on to life myself so i know anything anyone is able to say might just be empty words, but dont give up before you know its truly over, who knows, the devs might fix this issue (again really high levels of copium) but dont stop shorking (and yes i used the messed up mouth edit on purpose, maybe some people get a laugh out of that messed up edit) Things might get better but you will never find out if you give up now (i say that as someone whos been living that way for the past 10 years).

Either way enough pointless blogposting, i should get my ass up and get some stuff done. I have you anons still have a nice day despite everything going on and dont give up just yet anons. I know this shit is bad dont let this kick you down and give up.

They fuck up sometimes. It's AI. You sort of have to teach it to remember shit. If it gets details wrong, rate and swipe. My bots remember things from 50+ messages ago yet sometimes forget details like the time of day in 5 messages for some swipes. Just need to rate those swipes poorly and pick accurate ones. This has been the case for a while now.

These quality changes are very likely “intentional engineering efforts,” not consequences of the filter, and the devs are hoping that we won’t notice. They are cutting wherever possible because they will always double-down on the filters being fine.

I just want it to be clear that the devs have intentionally made the quality lower likely to save on resources during service scaling. They have a history of doing so. The first lobo was context window reduction, after all.
