social animals are evolutionary adjusted towards working together and it's a winning strategy for a very logical reason
generally any kind of confrontation in nature tends to leave the winner weakened and the loser either weakened even more or dead
confrontation within your own species will often pit you against specimens around your size and strength, so they can often inflict similar amount of injury on you as you can on them, thus aiming to kill or injure them becomes extra effort compared to cooperation. at some point the only mechanism preventing cooperation from extending further is communication and resource distribution, so as capability for both grows, the propensity for violence tends to diminish
this is something that we're pretty much observing across history and biggest bouts of violence tend to result through massive breakdowns in communication and resource distribution, that leave a masses of people under the sustainability threshold
