>>41361216Really great showing, but can I have a more nuanced take here?
I mean first of all I thought the performance was amazing, the acoustic version is a bit more somber and lower energy than the original which gives a different flavor to it, and I think it was really fitting for the way the singing was presented
It's a great representation of hololive, of vtubers in general, and of suisei herself to have this on such a big channel where there are videos with hundreds of millions of viewers, I think that's something everything can be proud of
Another thing is I happened to have the cc turned on so I saw the translated lyrics for the first time, and I think they're actually pretty moving and a great fit to the song
But I kind of think this is a format that better fits IRL performers than virtual performers, that's just my opinion
The fun part of first take imo is watching big famous jpop singers and bands come to the studio; people you might've only ever heard of in name or as the faceless band behind your favorite anime op/ed or something, is there in their authentic dorky real selves - I think that's a big part of the appeal of first take
I dont think Suisei got much of a chance to show her personality and represent vtubers in that way, so many people who watch this video outside of the vtuber fandom will just see a good performance and not what it is that makes vtubers appealing; I know she made subtle movements and stuff that any other serious singer would but it feels a bit less "real" knowing it's just a digital 3D model at the end of the day
....Also, I think the close-up on the Sony branding of the headphones towards the beginning was a bit blatant and awkward and a tiny bit distracted from how seriously I could take the performance at first
But yeah, overall great performance imo/10
