https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=POFGI43HjcgI don't know how to describe this mood, but goomba is the memer who will struggle to hold back laughter through dumb lyrics or chat making jokes mid song, or giggle when she can't go low enough to match the original vocals...
and then despite all of the scuff, the key notes roll around, and she nails the pocket so hard none of the prior distractions even matter. You just get stunlocked. I don't know how she does it. I love her voice and her singing so much. She doesn't strain, she doesn't try too hard, she's not showing off, she just simply sings, exactly the way I wish someone would sing it, the way that fits the song the most. She doesn't put herself or her performance ahead of the music, but rather she tries to do the vocals justice. And this is an unedited, live, out of studio, karaoke performance.
I have seen and heard so many performances on shows like The Voice and every time someone opened with Hallelujah, I would cringe so hard, because it's one of the most difficult songs to sing right, but since it's really vocal heavy, men and women would butcher it just to try and show off their voice and overperform so hard you'd think it's a pop song. I hate that. I hate it when people twist a song into something it was never meant to be. I'm not saying that everyone should sing every song the exact same way, every cover is obviously different in many subtle ways, but every song has a vibe and a feel to it, and to recklessly disregard it for your own benefit or because you think you know better just feels wrong to me. You need a lot of context and/or reasons to pull that off successfully, to earn it, and using a song to demo yourself is just not one of them. Most of the hololive girls understand as much, but I think out of all of them, Gura is the one that manages to sync up with the the songs' feelings most accurately, or at the very least, the feelings she senses in those songs seem to be the same ones that I do. So every time I hear her sing a new song, I already feel like I know how she will sing it, and so far, she always has. And despite that or maybe because of that, her singing always blows me away.
