I've heard it from more than one person "in the know" that in most countries courier companies are in cahoots with customs and basically strike a deal with them beyond the regulatory requirements. So you're being fucked by the courier more than even by your local taxes, the courier pocketing most of it. So all the breakdown of what you have to pay them to release your parcel is false; the courier's getting the lion's share, not Customs. Apparently an open secret.
Don't use couriers unless speed is of the essence for say documents etc.
Or you live in a place that doesn't fuck over its populace with insane tariffs for shit your country doesn't even fucking produce ffs I hate this.
