quote retweets are bigger boosts, and posts with media (like pngs or gifs) are stronger.
so if you're OP and post a "drop your pngs" and 100 small 2view chuubas drop their pngs into YOUR thread, your account gets a boost. twitter thinks "oh, this person must be a big shot in these communities" so when someone goes to search for example "vtubers" the algorithm is likely to push you up to the top and be more visible.
and the people who post their stuff in those threads aren't even the same audience who is looking to find a chuuba to watch. it's mostly just chuubas posting themselves. very few viewers will actually go through it and be all "hey, this chuuba looks interesting, i'll follow them!" because the thread quickly just becomes a flood of pngs.
