>>47497005>Is brotuber just a theory?Brotuber is a nebulous term that needs defining. I consider a brotuber to be a male vtuber who is chiefly concerned with engaging with traditionally male hobbies and interests for content, with the intention of interacting with an audience interested in the same things, which is inevitably also majority male.
>Do any actually exist that in no way pander to fujos?By the definition I gave, a few, but they're also not very popular. I'm aware of at least two male vtubers who do nothing but sperg about niche, old school games, anime, and model kits, and have never fujo baited, to my knowledge. They're both 3views. Not ignored, but not Luxiem, either.
>How do you design a male character that doesn't make fujos want to see their asshole gaped?Counter female sexuality at its source, before it can even begin. You're currently thinking like a man (as you should be) but we're going even deeper into hell. That is, you're thinking about character design in purely visual terms, because men are primarily aroused by visual characteristics. But, speaking in very broad terms, women are primarily aroused by social behaviors/status, and relationship dynamics, while visuals are secondary. If Naruto behaved like Sasuke, he would be the favorite. So think of anime and video games that are popular with fujos, and create anti-designs of those characters and their relationship dynamics. Kingdom Hearts, Phoenix Wright, Layton, etc.
>Normal women thinking your avatar is attractive is fine but I don't want to be gay bait and I don't want to watch gay bait. You'd also need to give a definition for Gay Bait, which isn't going to be the same thing as "things that fujos will interpret as being gay." Fujos will intentionally misinterpret literally anything they can as gay, because it's much easier for them to get off if there's an intensely emotional relationship dynamic in it, whether real or imagined. Note that they don't tend to simply draw a picture of Snake and Snape having fucked up niche kink sex. They mostly WRITE about Snake and Snape having ANGSTY and PASSIONATE "it feels so wrong but it feels so right" sex. Female pornography is mostly written, and focuses most on the context of things like who and how, rather than what the people involved look like. Note that, as a consequence of this point, the previous point about character design is made much more difficult if you intend to collab with anyone, or if you have lore which includes other characters at all, especially men. This has already happened to one of the two I mentioned.
>Source: Combination of observation and My Ass™.>>47513787>He doesn't exist (because people wouldn't watch this). If nobody is watching it, how would you know? You're in the territory of "If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?" now. The answer is yes, though.
>doesn't this imply that brotubers don't exist because they're being self-defeating due to what they perceive is the state of the marketSome probably are, but others not. I wouldn't consider someone who's a slave to the whims of the market to be a very good brotuber in the first place, because that inherently runs counter to how male interest works, unless keeping up with market trends is their interest. The successful ones I've seen, in my massive sample size of two, are very clearly only doing it because they're having fun the way they like to have fun, not because they give a shit about what the market wants, money, or fame. Because they keep at it for that reason, they're around long enough for the people who like that kind of fun eventually find them and stay, even if it's only 100-300 people.
