Same thing with ID and even EN, they grew very fast but most of those viewers didn't stick around long term. Hell, Gura is probably the biggest example of it imo.

gura still lingers around the 5 digit range tho, might not be the same as the 40k avg. back in 2020 or 20k avg in 2021, but its still good.
Its just that Western audience doesn't stick much, meanwhile most JP audience stick around for so long.

Exactly, she gets huge viewer numbers, but she's also the most subscribed vtuber by a mile. She went viral and reached audiences outside the niche but they were never gonna last. Wasn't saying she does badly but it's the same phenomena
