I don't have the energy to argue about this stupid shit anymore but this pretty much sums up the problem perfectly and why I don't really want to watch Fauna anymore.
I was never under the delusion that I was friends with her in the sense that she was going to know me or something. But now I feel like just a number to her. Which is significantly worse than not feeling like you're friends with someone.

This analogy misses the part where one of the patrons of the cafe publicly came up to the owner and, in a way that every single patron of the cafe could hear, asked her if she considers every single patron of the cafe to be her friends, and her response to that person was also overheard by every patron of the cafe. Because actual friends are a soul-draining burden. But there's no burden with a vtuber because there's no genuine relationship to maintain. You just watch them stream and that's it. You don't have to put in any effort beyond that and your commitment to them ends the moment you close the browser tab. That's why feeling like a vtuber is your friend is infinitely superior to the utterly horrible experience of having "real" friends.
