Re-writing Hammond to be a good guy misses the whole point of the Hammond character and men like him, which is one of the central points of the novel. PG-13 is for babies, it should've been a hard R. Ian Malcolm's transition to the screen replaces his egotistical reticence with just asinine stupidity; nothing he says makes sense and it makes him come off like a fraud who is correct accidentally. There's also that really bad continuity error with the gigantic drop into the Rex paddock during the signature scene of its attack.
Oh and the severed arm prop was unacceptable.
