As for why they had a bad reputation, it was the incredible amount of breaks for "health reasons". They were so many and it affected the talents so much, that there was a plausible rrat about one talent being raped and forced into silence with threats of retaliation, and now the 774 rape dungeon has became a meme.
Those health breaks were clearly stealth suspensions, on top of some batshit retarded public disciplinary actions such as a talent being suspended for doing a guerilla collab (unauthorized stream) with her model sister. There was also a practice of graduating talents from one of their groups and making them debut in another of their groups just to rake in the donations. It was scummy as fuck.
The only reason they're better than Niji is because they let their talents keep their IP, probably because the talents paid for the channels.
They have been doing some good business moves recently and have shown improvement, and don't make insane decisions anymore, but trust is hard to regain.
