If you go through the first mission, save the settlement, but decide to support the bumbling but decent-hearted corporate dude instead of the hippie woman who uses human corpses as fertilizer, while still getting them good food instead of shit, the game will tell you
>you taught the settlers a valuable lesson; that hope is forever out of their reach, and that their life is worthless.Keep in mind that this is after the game assumes you side with the hippie because they write her as the "good choice," and so have your companion literally stop you and BEG YOU to not punish the corporate people. If you listen to her, the game calls you a soul-sucking bastard. Even if EVERYONE IS HAPPY EXCEPT FOR ONE HIPPIE.
I'm raging about this and it's only barely on topic because of that ad but it was terrible.
