>>53986526My recommendation would be to learn to read first, if you can read LNs semi-fluidly, then your brain just has to get used to picking the meaning up from listening. And yes, those are quite different, Japanese has very few sounds and when reading, ironically the kanji, the hardest part, become a big crutch conveying meaning which you don't have when listening.
I would recommend watching easier streams first (I watched Pekora's 12 hour Minecraft speedrun at the beginning) and then switch to more difficult ones (Zatsudan, streams of story driven games with lots of dialogue). Just keep going, the progress should be quite fast, I went from understanding just parts to basically understanding everything in 100-200 hours of streams.
