Something that says 'best before X' is probably safe to eat as it only refers to its intended looks, smell, taste, texture, etc. If it says 'expires by X', then it's no longer guaranteed by the food manufacturer to be safe for consumption and you need to be more cautious, but as long as it doesn't smell/taste bad or isn't moldy, you can risk it still.
