Basically you start in the overworld, and you can take as long as you want or be as fast as you want with what you do, then you have to find a way to get to the Nether (which is the hell dimension), acquire some items from there to help you get to and find the other dimension, literally called The End
And in the End is where a giant dragon is, beat it and you beat the game
In a manner of speaking at least, you're still free to do whatever after that, explore the End, fight another big boss, and so on
