>>57093040Hasn't really been properly tried in the west. The issue with idols is that they've all been Japanese or foreign so it's not only a cultural barrier, but a cultural barrier on top of a niche barrier. Fuwamoco do a great job of crossing this threshold because even though they're not American they still speak English and understand Western culture to a good enough extent that we can communicate. They also appeal to weebs because they are weebs themselves. America has celebrity culture, but most celebrities are degenerates and I think we're reaching a point where most people are tired of that.
Even if it's not most people, enough are tired of it that there's a market for something different. There is a horde of western Vtubers that are basically e-thots with avatars. There are almost none that stick to character, avoid yabs, and genuinely care about their fans. Most want to discuss how they have sex with men, fart, and have abortions, how their audience should be grateful they stream, and how quirky they are despite so many western Vtubers being the same.
To sum it up, we still have never really gotten EN idols until Fuwamoco. Kiara tried but... well, she's Kiara.
